In the first phase of reform, two officers of BTRC, Deputy Director of the organization's Administration Department and Private Secretary Md. Amjad Hossain Nipu; Deputy Director of Engineering and Operations Division Mahdi Ahmad were temporarily dismissed. The penalty notices were issued against the duo on the evening of Sunday as they were accused of corruption and disorderly conduct. This information has been informed in the notice signed by Aftab Md. Rashedul Wadud, Director (Administration) of BTRC in favor of Rule-3(b)(d), (e), (e) and Rule 12 of the Commission's Employment Regulations 2022, Rule-48 and 54 and Government Employees Rules 2018.

Among them, Chairman's private secretary and former Publicity Secretary of the Chhatra League Dhaka University branch Md. Amjad Hossain Nipu is absconding. On the other hand, his associate deputy director in BTRC's engineering and operations department and former managing director of BTCL, Mahfuzur Rahman's son, Mahdi Ahmad, were detained on the 9th floor of BTRC by the angry workers.

According to sources, Mahfuz Uddin Ahmad, father of Mahdi Ahmad, was appointed as Managing Director of BTCL for three times during the ousted Awami government. He is now accused in the ACC charge sheet for embezzling Tk 4800 crore. Moreover, the accused Amjad with the help of ISPAB Director SM Zakir Hossain (former general secretary of Chhatra League) issued more than five hundred ISP licenses in favor of the organization of former Chhatra League/Juba League/Volunteer League leaders across the country only on partisan considerations.

The present Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed also was the former president of Chhatra League at BUET and the former vice-president of Central Volunteers League and he has played the role of accomplice in corruption. A source said that he did not come to the office again after the new interim government was formed through upsurge.
